Hurricane Milton Evacuations Urged in Fort Myers

**Hurricane Milton Update: Fort Myers Officials Urge Immediate Evacuation**

FORT MYERS, FL - The Fort Myers Police and Fire Departments have conducted final evacuation sweeps in Zones A and B in response to Hurricane Milton. Residents in these areas are urged to take refuge in one of the 13 emergency shelters available throughout Lee County. All shelters currently have open availability.

Authorities are warning of life-threatening storm surge, expected to reach heights of 8 to 12 feet. Residents are advised to safeguard their families and pets as driving conditions are anticipated to worsen this afternoon.

Officials recommend that individuals should be sheltered in place by 2 PM today as severe thunderstorm bands approach the area. Motorists are strongly encouraged to stay off roadways until the storm has passed.
