**Hurricane Milton Update: Evacuations and Emergency Shelters**

Fort Myers, FL – The Fort Myers Police and Fire Departments have conducted final evacuation sweeps in Zones A and B due to Hurricane Milton. Residents in these areas are urged to utilize the 13 available emergency shelters in Lee County.

Authorities are warning of life-threatening storm surges, expected to reach between 8 to 12 feet. Residents are advised to safeguard their families and pets as driving conditions are anticipated to worsen throughout the afternoon.

Officials recommend that people should be sheltered in place by 2 PM today, as severe thunderstorm bands are affecting the region.

Motorists are encouraged to stay off roadways until the storm has passed.
