Armed Carjacking Suspects Arrested After Pursuit
Staff Report / FMlocal.org
On Sunday, October 13th, at approximately 5:30 a.m., Fort Myers Police Officers responded to a report of a carjacking at Publix, located at 2160 McGregor Avenue. A female employee informed officers that a male suspect had pointed a handgun at her and taken her silver Nissan Rogue.
While officers were investigating the carjacking, they spotted the stolen vehicle speeding on Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard alongside another dark SUV. Police initiated a traffic stop but the driver of the Nissan Rogue lost control and crashed at the intersection of Ortiz and Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard. The driver was immediately detained.
Officers then pursued the second dark SUV, which also lost control and crashed near Michigan and Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard. Both the driver and passenger attempted to flee but were apprehended.
Further investigation revealed that the dark SUV had been reported stolen out of Fort Myers on October 12th. Evidence related to another felony was gathered, and video surveillance confirmed both SUVs were involved in the robbery at Publix minutes earlier.
Probable cause was established for the arrest of three individuals:
- O’Marion Florence, born October 9, 2004
- Jeremiah Fleming, born November 29, 2006
- Delvarious Robinson, born July 12, 2006
All three are currently being held in the Lee County Jail on multiple felony charges.
