**Update on Solid Waste & Debris Collection in Fort Myers**
Fort Myers, FL - The City of Fort Myers has announced that effective today, Crowder Gulf, a contractor for the city, is actively collecting debris in the areas most affected by the recent storm. Residents are asked to bring debris to the curb and to ensure it is properly separated for efficient collection.
Construction debris and horticulture must be placed in separate piles. Additionally, appliances and bulk goods should also be separated. Residents are reminded that debris should not be placed in black bags, as it needs to be inspected by FEMA for potential funding reimbursement.
This week, the sanitation department will collect commercial and residential trash; however, recycling and horticulture will not be picked up. Horticultural waste will be managed by Crowder Gulf as they perform debris collection throughout the city.
To streamline the collection process following the closure of solid waste facilities last week, residents with Thursday trash routes should expect pick-up on Wednesday, and those with Friday routes will have pick-up on Thursday. Regular collection schedules are set to resume on Monday, October 21st.
For further details regarding storm recovery efforts, residents can visit the City of Fort Myers website or contact the Public Works Department at 239-321-7150.
