Trafalgar Middle Awarded Special Olympics National Banner

Staff Report / FMlocal.org

Trafalgar Middle School in Fort Myers, Florida, is set to receive a Special Olympics National Banner in recognition of its achievement as a Unified Champion School. This honor places Trafalgar Middle among only ten schools across the state of Florida that have earned this designation for 2024.

The school currently has approximately 70 students involved in its unified program, which includes activities such as basketball, soccer, and track. New to the program this year is pickleball. Coach Matt Ziemer is dedicated to enhancing the program and ensuring it reaches its full potential.

The banner will be displayed in the school's gym as a symbol of its commitment to inclusion and unified sports. More information can be found at the School District of Lee County's website.
