Chicago Museum Says Tania Córdova Detained by ICE

The Chicago History Museum in Chicago, Illinois, says it recently learned that Tania Córdova, a community activist whose story is featured in its Aquí en Chicago exhibition, was detained by ICE. The museum says it is wishing for the safety and well‑being of Córdova and her family during this time.

MARCH FOR IMMIGRATION REFORM

This exhibit captures the diversity of a crowd marching for the rights of immigrants on March 10, 2006. It was organized in response to the unprecedented attacks on immigrant rights in the years leading up to 2006. Participants made their voices heard, demanding comprehensive immigration reform and the right to live and work without fear of deportation.

No individual or organization can be credited with leading this march, but it demonstrates the growing mobilization of grassroots organizations across the country. The diversity of the people participating highlights the many different stories and perspectives that shape the immigrant experience today.
