Fort Myers Fire Department Urges Residents to Prepare

Staff Report / FMlocal.org

The Fort Myers Fire Department is urging residents to create emergency plans that cater to every member of the household. Essentials include clothing, water, flashlights, comfort items, and portable chargers for kids. Pets should have medications, vet paperwork, collars & ID tags, leashes or carriers, favorite toys, and pet food. For seniors, include eyeglasses, medications, medical equipment with extra batteries, a medical ID bracelet, insurance cards, and a contact list. The department emphasizes preparedness for kids, pets, and seniors as part of Florida Preparedness Month 2024. The Florida Division of Emergency Management offers additional tips at floridadisaster.org/planprepare.
