Safety Tips for Halloween Driving in Lee County

Staff Report / FMlocal.org

As Halloween approaches, Lee County Public Safety has issued important driving tips to ensure safety for all. Motorists are encouraged to slow down in residential areas to remain alert for children who may unexpectedly cross the street while trick-or-treating.

Drivers should also avoid distractions, including using their phones, to maintain focus while navigating busy streets filled with trick-or-treaters. The importance of not driving under the influence is emphasized; those celebrating Halloween are urged to designate a sober driver or use rideshare services like Uber or Lyft.

Additionally, Lee County Public Safety reminds drivers to be mindful of costumes and reflective gear, as not all costumes are easily visible in low light conditions. It is crucial to provide ample space for pedestrians and exercise caution, especially for children not wearing reflective clothing.

Public safety officials encourage everyone to adhere to these guidelines to ensure a safe Halloween for all.
